From 1 December 2025, Victorian employers are legally required to identify, manage, and control psychosocial hazards under the new Occupational Health and Safety (Psychological Health) Regulations 2025.
These changes make it clear that mental health risks must be treated with the same seriousness as physical safety hazards.
According to WorkSafe Victoria, employers must now take specific steps to address psychosocial risks such as:
“Safe work is about more than preventing physical injury — it’s just as crucial to protect workers from risks to their mental health.”
— Sam Jenkin, Chief Health and Safety Officer, WorkSafe Victoria
